How to setup the ioSmart |
The Kantech ioSmart card reader must be connected to a supporting controller (KT-400 or KT-1). The ioSmart supports both wiegand and RS-485 connections to the controller.
When connecting using the wiegand connection, use the Express Setup Program to configure the reader. When connecting using the RS-485 connection, complete the following steps:
1 - Click the Devices tab.
2 - Select the Controller icon.
3 - Select a controller and click on the ioSmart tab.
4 - Select the + symbol to add an ioSmart reader to the controller.
5 - Enter your ioSmart reader's Serial number.
6 - Select the Associated door.
7 - Select the Keypad option if your ioSmart reader includes a keypad.
8 - Select the I1 and I2O functions to configure the reader's inputs and outputs.
• Disabled
• Single input
• Dual input
• Lock output
• Relay
It is possible to configure I1 and I2O for a maximum of 4 inputs (using both I1 and I2O in dual inputs mode) or 2 inputs and 1 output (lock output or relay).
9 - Select the appropriate Baud rate for your system.
10 - Click the three dot button the configure the Reader template.
You can also configure your ioSmart in the Operation tab.
1 - Click on the Operation tab.
2 - Select a Site / Gateway / Connection.
3 - Right-click on a controller and click Unassigned Module. This creates a Controller unassigned module requested by operator event on the desktop.
4 - Right-click on the event to assign the reader. The serial number of the ioSmart reader is automatically populated in the configuration tab.
NOTE: The error message Cannot add a module to this controller is displayed when additional readers cannot be added to a controller.
The configured ioSmart status is displayed in the Operation... Door menu. Right-click on the appropriate door to view the status.The status of all configured ioSmart readers connected to a controller is displayed in Operation.... Controller menu.
